The aim of the Nutrition Program is to improve health outcomes and prevent chronic disease for those living in the Fitzroy Valley through increasing confidence and knowledge around healthy eating practices and improving cooking skills.

The nutrition program partners with local organisations, schools, homemakers, visiting clinics and communities to conduct group education sessions.  These sessions cover:

  • The Australian Dietary Guidelines

  • Label reading and following recipes

  • Preparing and cooking healthy meals

  • Importance of bush food

  • Preventing chronic disease

  • Food literacy development

  • How to incorporate more fruit, vegetables, and fibre into the diet other Activities

  • Taste testing and product promotion at community stores

  • Developing menu plans for school homemakers

The nutrition program is also available to assist with planning a healthy cook up for your next community event.
