Home and Community Care (HACC) Services

HACC services of various kinds are provided to approx. 60 clients in the townsite of Fitzroy and in Kurnangki and Mindi Rardi Aboriginal Communities. Clients include old people, young disabled people and their carers.

The services provided through HACC include:

  • Meals on wheels – delivering meals to old people’s camp or provide a meal
    at the day centre
  • Transport – to supermarket, hospital and visiting family and communities
  • Basic personal care – helping people shower, cutting hair, nails and shaving
  • Assistance with shopping – help people to do shopping and do shopping for
    older people
  • Laundry – we do laundry for old people
  • Assistance with medication and the provision of day activities
    at the HACC centre
  • Minor home maintenance – Changing light globes, fixing locks, repairing
    kitchen items, arranging bigger jobs to be done by tradesperson
  • House cleaning – we help people with home care when families or carers
    cannot help. Eg: sweeping, mopping and general house cleaning
  • Social support – we provide information and assistance to people in
    managing their own affairs such as writing letters, making appointments,
    banking, interpreting and medication issues
