Guwardi Ngadu Aged Care Facility
Our GoalTo provide a high quality, culturally appropriate Aged Care Facility for the residents of the Fitzroy Valley.
Guwardi Ngadu is a Aged Care facility that is approximately 8 years old. There are 4 buildings
in the complex, which surround a large outdoor open courtyard. The buildings comprise of an administration block with a front office, kitchen, sitting room/TV room and toilets and a laundry area, a men’s wing with 3 bedrooms, each with 2-3 residents and ensuite bathroom, a women’s wing with 3 bedrooms, each with 2-3 residents and ensuite and a forth wing with a respite bedroom, doctor/nurse consulting room and a store room.

The Commonwealth government has granted Guwardi Ngadu permission to extend its
services to high care and as such, new high care areas will be built and the whole complex will be refurbished.
In addition to high quality, formally accredited residential care, Guwardi Ngadu offers a
program of outings for the residents, in conjunction with home based HACC clients i.e. community visits, visits to Mangkatja Arts, Karrayili Adult Education Centre, and Numbla Nunga Nursing Home (Derby), days at the river, and camping out. Social and cultural activities are also provided at the Hostel incorporating community members and organisations. Residents are assisted to visit their communities and their families are encouraged to participate in their care.
